African Smashburger at Fro Bros in Zürich

Today's stop was Fro Bros in Zürich, a small spot with the concept of "African Smashburger". This place had been on my list for ages and I finally had to check it out. The burger came looking pretty classic: a juicy smashed patty, melted cheddar, a shiny, slightly sweet brioche bun, plus one special component that gives the whole thing its "African Touch".

What really stood out to me was the pickle - or rather the pickled veggies - on top, with a lovely tangy kick that pairs perfectly with the melted, greasy cheese. That gives you an absolutely top-notch bite ratio. The meat itself has a slightly smoky, almost spiced note with a subtle lingering heat that works surprisingly well. It's exactly this combo of sweet bun, creamy cheese, tangy pickles and the spicy-hot sauce that makes this burger something special you won't find just anywhere.

By the way, according to the sign they've got a Sunday Special for 19.90 francs: burger of your choice, Fro Fries and a Coca-Cola - definitely a fair deal for anyone in the area craving an uncomplicated but flavor-packed snack.

My verdict: this burger is really solid, tastes absolutely unique and just puts you in a good mood. It doesn't quite make it to the very top of my personal ranking, but it's definitely worth a visit if you're looking for something different from your average run-of-the-mill smashburger.
